Lodwar Municipality has officially unveiled a new service provider tasked with delivering street cleaning and related environmental services across Township and Kanamkemer Wards in Turkana Central.

During a public launch event, Deputy Municipality Manager Simon Nangiro introduced the company’s staff and led them in a symbolic clean-up exercise covering key streets within the Municipality.

In his remarks, Nangiro called on the company to embrace inclusive recruitment practices, ensuring equal employment opportunities for all segments of the diverse local community—including youth, women, and persons with disabilities.

He emphasized that while the primary goal was to enhance the efficiency and consistency of cleaning services, fairness in employment and attentiveness to local needs were equally important.

The appointment of the service provider follows a rigorous vetting process to ensure compliance with both county and national regulations governing outsourced public services.

Reaffirming the company’s readiness to begin operations, the Chief Executive Officer appealed for increased budgetary support to enable the expansion of services and employment of more workers.
