Lodwar, 15th April 2025 (Governor’s Press Service) – Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai today hosted a delegation from the Reformed Church of East Africa (RCEA) missionaries, under the US-based non-profit organisation Hands On Mission.

The delegation, led by Hands On Mission Executive Director Reverend Stephen Hogge, announced plans to implement water, health, and education initiatives in Kalapata Ward. Reverend Hogge explained that during the visit, the team will engage with RCEA Church leaders and the local community before rolling out programmes. 

“We intend to partner with the County Government to develop water projects, conduct medical camps, and explore support for secondary education in Kalapata,” said Reverend Hogge.

He emphasised the organisation’s commitment to transparency and accountability, stating, “It is our biblical responsibility to work under your God-given authority. We see this as a partnership, both in development and in faith.” 

Governor Lomorukai welcomed the collaboration, acknowledging the critical need for such interventions with the county’s arid and semi-arid situation.

“Turkana faces significant challenges as an ASAL county, and we appreciate the support from RCEA missionaries, which will directly benefit Kalapata residents,” he said. 

The delegation included Ministry Consultant John Pretence, Hands On Mission Administrative Assistant Christina Williams, and RCEA General Secretary Reverend Luka Ariko, among others. 

County officials present at the meeting included Acting County Secretary Joseph Nyang’a, County Executives Dr. Joseph Epem (Health) and Roseline Aite (Trade), Chief Officer for Sports and Vocational Training Leah Nasiru, Director of Legal Services Ekai Nabenyo and Aroo Deputy Sub-County Administrator Samuel Kitoe.
