Nakwamekwi, 17th May 2025 (Governor’s Press Service) – Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai has today drummed up support for President William Samoei Ruto, emphasising that the President had honoured the commitments made to Turkana leaders during their visits to State House.
He said this while attending the burial of the late Paulo Nawoko Napilio, whom he eulogized as a devoted Christian and a hardworking individual who mentored many. He noted that Napilio’s passing was a loss not only to his family but also to the people of Turkana Central and the Catholic Church.
Governor Lomorukai who was accompanied by First Lady Lilian Komudei, used the occasion to rally support for both the County and National Governments, cautioning residents against critics who were tarnishing President Ruto’s name.
He underscored that Turkana for the first time had received recognition from the National Government, particularly through appointments to senior government positions. He pledged to spearhead efforts for President Ruto’s re-election.
“President Ruto is a man of action. I now fully believe in his slogan, ‘Speaking and Acting,'” said the Governor.
He also lauded former Governor Josphat Nanok for his hospitality at State House and condemned those questioning the competence of Turkana professionals in national roles. The Governor assured that Turkana would reciprocate the trust President Ruto has shown in the region during the next election in 2027.
State House Deputy Chief of Staff Josphat Nanok reiterated President Ruto’s commitment to fulfilling all pre-election promises made to the people of Turkana.
Nanok also called for unity among leaders to address issues affecting citizens like the one in Todonyang and vowed to collaborate with leaders to advocate for increased resources for the region.
Turkana East MP Nicholas Ng’ikor and Woman Representative Cecilia Ishuu also voiced their support for President Ruto’s administration.
Governor Lomorukai later attended the burial of the late John Loree at Napetet village.
Senior County Government officials present included Trade County Executive Roseline Aite and Chief Officers Ekuwam Etelej (Medical Services), Paul Lodung’a (Education), Moses Korea (Office of the Governor), and Janerose Tioko (Preventive and Promotive Health).
