New Board chair assumes office, commits to introduce best employee awards

The newly appointed chair of the Turkana County Public Service Board Peter Ekunyuk Ingollan, has officially assumed office with a promise to introduce the first-ever employee award scheme in Turkana for outstanding performance, as part of his immediate priority.

His entry brings to a close a three-year leadership gap at the board, which has operated without a substantive chair since August 2022. During that period, Vice Chair Dr Pauline Akiru Ekod served in an acting capacity.

“As I take over the office, I have two immediate goals in mind. To pursue partnerships for creating an employee award scheme for the best-performing staff. Next, to strengthen dialogue and consultation with all bodies engaging with the board in an official capacity.” said the chair in his inaugural speech.

He said he had gathered enough information from board members and staff to make key decisions and would work closely with both county and national institutions that provide or seek services from the board.

Presiding over the formal assumption of office, County Secretary Ambassador Dr Richard Titus Ekai, assured the board of County’s support in fulfilling its mandate.

To facilitate seamless transition, Dr. Pauline Akiru Ekod handed over documents including the Staff Establishment Report, Internship Policy, a report on Constitutional Values and Principles (Articles 10 and 232), and updates on board programmes to Ekunyuk, the new chair.

Board Secretary Fransisca Bartoo, Human Resource Director Joseph Ngatotin, and Principal Administrator Simon Ipoo were also present during the ceremony.
