Deputy Governor Dr John Erus hosted a delegation from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) at the County headquarters in Lodwar, where discussions centred on possible areas of partnerships moving forward.
DG Erus called for harmonization of all upcoming interventions with the existing development blueprints.
“While we welcome the roll out of new programs, care must be taken to ensure that the intended outcomes contributes to the guidelines in the Kalobeyei Integrated Socio-Economic Development Program (KISDEP), Shirika plans and the County Intergrated Development Plan. This will help eliminate duplication of efforts and deepen the impact of our joint work,” DG Erus explained. Having implemented programs on resilience against climate change before in Turkana as part of intervention to build community’s capacity to effectively respond to new and emerging forms of disasters, head of IOM delegation John McCue revealed plans were underway to roll out more programs especially on Transhumance tracking.
Both parties resolved to hold technical follow-up meeting for further deliberations on re-alignment process prior to the roll out of the proposed program by IOM.
