Lodwar- July 2, 2025 (Public Communication and Media Relations)

Residents of Lodwar Municipality rallied for installation and repair of security lights and opening up of roads leading to social amenities, terming them as priority concerns.
At a citizens’ forum organized by the Municipality area management, residents said that areas around Safari club, Kalahari, Loturerei, and Napetao lacked security lights posing security threat.
“Many of the challenges we pointed out in previous sittings have been addressed. However, we now want the Municipality to focus on streetlights. Put up new ones and repair the existing ones especially around Kalahari and Safari club,’ said Anastasia Ekeno from Kanamkemer.
In addition to lighting, Kanamkemer residents advocated for activation of open spaces and recreational parks, round about beautification and installation of drainage systems.
For residents of Loturerei and Napetao, the major concern was accessibility of roads leading to the health care facilities.
In addition, Carl Peters shared that electricity connection was also a concern for Lotikoi, Loturerei.
During the sitting, Municipality Manager Benjamin Tukei gave an account of progress made and challenges experienced since the last public forum.
“Together with the Board, our focus is to meet and exceed requirements set by the Government of Kenya and World Bank for urban areas upgrading.
Chief Officer Urban areas and Municipalities Peter Lomorukai, and other senior Municipality staff attended the forum.
