The County Government of Turkana has signed a recognition agreement with the Kenya National Union of Medical Laboratory Officers (KNUMLO), formally granting the union rights to operate within the county.

The deal paves the way for KNUMLO to establish a local chapter in Turkana and champion the rights and welfare of its members. With this signing, Turkana becomes the 38th county in Kenya to accord recognition status to the union.

County Secretary Dr. Richard Ekai, who signed on behalf of the county, said the move reflected deliberate efforts to uphold staff rights to union membership in line with national labor laws.

KNUMLO Secretary-General Pius Nyakundi signed on behalf of the union during a brief ceremony at the County Headquarters. The occasion was witnessed by the Chief Officer for Medical Services Dr. Gilchrist Lokoel, Director for Legal Services Ekai Nabenyo, and the Chair of the County Public Service Board Peter Ingollan Ekunyuk, who also appended his signature.
