Lodwar, 27th September 2025 (Governor’s Press Service)
Students from local universities and colleges, alongside young professionals, held a ceremony in Lodwar to celebrate Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai’s recent conferment of an honorary doctorate degree by the HonorCrest Institute International in South Africa.
The event featured cake cutting, dance, and the dressing of the governor in academic regalia, marking what organizers described as a gesture of respect for the award conferred for “Leadership Excellence”.
The lead organizer David Ekiru said the celebration was also meant to inspire young people to pursue distinction in their respective fields.
“Through this celebration, we are encouraging the youth to emulate the governor and pursue excellence in whatever they do. The governor has led from the front,” he said.
The organizers further commended Lomorukai for appointing young people to key positions in his administration, saying the move demonstrated trust and helped prepare them for future leadership responsibilities.
Governor Lomorukai attended the event in the company of First Lady Lilian Ekamais, Turkana East MP Nicholas Nkolong, and several Members of the County Assembly including James Ikeny (Kanamkemer), Abdifatah Kapua (Kaaleng/Kaikor), Willy Nalimo (Kapedo), David Ekod (Kerio), Michael Apem (Kalokol), and Muna Abdi (Special Elect).
