The CECM, Faith Aletia reiterated County Government’s commitment towards ensuring accuracy in land transactions noting the important role of the EU funded initiative towards achieving the accuracy goal.

“The project has indeed delivered an infrastructure that directly contributes to accuracy in handling land issue, we appreciate the final assessment by this joint team from EU and FAO and commend them for their support. Turkana is now on the right path’ CECM Faith Aletea said.

Chief Officer for Lands and Physical Planning, Leah Losiru added that the initiative directly contributed to the Governor’s agenda of a transformed Turkana.

“Through the support of EU and FAO, strategic partnership that delivers results has been actualized. We will continue improving the infrastructure created beyond the period of the project,” CCO Leah Losiru said.

During the assessment, the team inspected the Geographic Information System (GIS) Laboratory which is the main platform of the initiative.

Speaking for the inspection team, Husna Mubarak of FAO described the assessment as a deliberate measure to ensure that the facility provides the services it was designed for in the run up to the December 2025 project deadline date.

“Both the EU and FAO are committed towards addressing challenges and unlocking the potential of the DLGP facility to deliver it’s functions,” Husna said.

During the assessment, Director for Survey Joseph Egiron called for additional support in human resource capacity building, staffing, and acquisition of new modern equipment.

It is expected that the DLGP will assist Turkana to shift from the manual processes to online service delivery, thereby benefitting the public with faster, more accurate and reliable services moving forward.
