Following the Executive Order on the redeployment of County Chief Officers by H.E. Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai, Simon Etom has officially taken over as Chief Officer for Water Services, previously served in the Department of Roads and Transport, replaces Eng. Mark Achilla, who now moves to head the Roads and Transport docket.
The handover ceremony presided over by Deputy County Secretary Joseph Nyang’a, commended both chief officers for their dedication and urged them to continue delivering on the County Government’s mandate to the people of Turkana.
“Reshuffling is not new in any government, it is a deliberate move to enhance service delivery, promote learning, and encourage the exchange of ideas between departments,” he said.
He further appreciated the outgoing Chief Officer, Eng. Achilla, and the Water Services Department staff for their unwavering commitment in spearheading the County Government’s first agenda on Water as a Universal Right.
Outgoing Chief Officer Eng. Achilla expressed gratitude to the department for the collaboration and teamwork exhibited during his tenure, highlighting the success of the Kenya Water and Sanitation (K-WASH) program.
The ceremony was witnessed by senior management and technical staff from the Department of Water Services.
