The ongoing routine assessment of projects under the Financing Locally Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) has now moved to Turkana East and Turkana West after successful completion of a similar excise in Turkana Central and Loima.
Led by the Director of Climate Change, George Emase and members of the FLLoCA Board, projects at Elelea and Nabeye sites were visited and assessed in Turkana East. They also visited Nasinyono Integrated Irrigation Scheme and Akwang’at scheme in Kakuma municipality.
Emase said that the routine assessment aimed at ensuring that projects delivery standards are adhered to by the contractors.
According to the director, the assessment was designed to allow for interaction with community members set to benefit from the projects for learning of lessons and exchange of information.
“Since the project are meant to build resilience against climate change, interacting with the beneficiaries at site level helps us to know the extent to which that goal is achieved,” he said.
While commenting on status of the projects, Board Chair Dr. Fr Joseph Ekomwa said that there was evidence of compliance since the projects had started impacting on lives.
