Lodwar – December 5, 2025 (Public Communication and Media Relations)
The three-kilometre road connecting Nakwamekwi and Lodwar Town Centre through the Kenya Red Cross offices—currently under upgrade to bitumen standards by the County Government—is 34 percent complete, officials have disclosed.
CECM for Roads and Public Works Benson Lokwang announced the progress after leading a multisector inspection team to assess the status of the ongoing works on Friday.
Accompanied by Chief Officer for Roads, Engineer Mark Achilla, Lokwang expressed optimism that the contractor would complete the project within the stipulated timelines. He noted that residents had endured years of dust and poor road conditions and would soon benefit from a cleaner, safer, and more accessible route.
The CEC emphasized that Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai remains committed to improving the appearance and functionality of Lodwar Municipality and other urban centres across the county. He urged the contractor to carefully address issues raised in the inspection report to ensure quality delivery.
Once completed, the bitumen road is expected to significantly reduce dust levels for nearby residents, enhance safety, and improve access for motorists and pedestrians.
