County government has conducted another round of support supervision of the ongoing International Rescue Committe (IRC) led Intergrated Emergency Response Program in Turkana.

A multi sectoral team drawn from Nutrition, Water services, Public health, protection services, disease surveillance and livestock development are visiting project implemention sites to provide assistance to service providers executing the program.

According to the Deputy Director for Family Health and supervision team lead Gabriel Lopodo, there was evidence of good results as families reported reported receipt of wide array of services through Intergrated outreaches organized under the intervention.

“The support supervision, we have learnt of existing gaps and what needs to be done to sustain the gains so far realized,” he said.

Noting that the IRC-led project used malnutrition case loads to identify hotspots and design interventions, Director Lopodo said that the county was working on scaling best practices going forward.

The project, supported by the Office of Foreign Assistance (OFA) and jointly implemented by World Food Program and United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has successfully intergrated the full range of social protection services including cash transfer, food assistance and psychosocial support.
