The Communication Authority of Kenya (CAK), in partnership with Pan Africa Network Group and the Turkana County Government, has commenced the implementation of a Universal Service Fund (USF) communication infrastructure project at Kakuma Aridzone Primary School.
The project entails the construction of a communication mast within the school, which will facilitate the distribution of broadcast signals and digital connectivity services to Kakuma and surrounding areas.
The initiative is aimed at expanding access to digital broadcast channels, improving communication coverage, and supporting the government’s digital inclusion agenda in underserved regions.
Pan Africa Network Group, the licensed project implementer under CAK, will install and operate the communication mast in compliance with all regulatory requirements and technical standards.
The infrastructure will enhance connectivity for the school and the wider community, enabling improved access to information, education, and communication services.
The CAK delegation was led by Jane Kinyanjui, while Pan Africa Network Group was led by Alex Mwaura, who briefed stakeholders on the project scope, benefits, and regulatory compliance obligations.
The school’s Board of Management, led by Head of Institution Eripon Joseph, formally agreed to allocate a 50 metre by 50 metre parcel of land for the project, subject to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding.
The move underscores the school’s commitment to supporting community development through ICT infrastructure.
The County Department of Lands, Physical Planning and Urban Areas Management team, led by Director Davies Munialo, underscored the need for proper land approvals to be undertaken and the land verification process for the PDP issuances
A joint site visit was conducted, during which land coordinates were taken in the presence of representatives from CAK and Pan Africa Network Group.
