County forms Project Coordination Team for Municipality’s World Bank Funding

County Government has taken steps towards unlocking World Bank funding for Lodwar and Kakuma following the formation of a committee to oversee projects under the Urban Development Grants (UDGs).

The committee, known as the County Projects Coordination Team (CPTC), includes representatives from Water, Roads, Energy, and Environment Departments.

Chief Officer for Municipalities and Urban Areas Management, Peter Lomorukai says the team will ensure projects meet World Bank and government standards.

“We’re committed to supporting the CPTC to deliver quality services to the people of Lodwar and Kakuma,” he said.

The funds will be channeled to the respective municipalities through the state-led Kenya Urban Support Program currently in it’s second phase (KUSP ll)

The CPTC includes members from Water, Lands, Physical Planning, Survey, Roads, Public Works, Energy, Trade, Economic Planning, Climate Change and Environment, and Office of the County Attorney. UN-Habitat supported the county in forming the committee.

The team will report to the CECM for Lands, Physical Planning, and Urban Areas Management.

UN-Habitat representatives David Kitenge and Linus Sijenyi, Chief Officer Mark Achilla (Roads), Directors Phoebe Ekali (Environment) and Ignatius Kopeto (Public Works), Kakuma Municipality Peter Emuria (Manager) and Halima Duba (Deputy Manager) and Ag County Solicitor Ekai Nabenyo were present.
