County Government has signed an MoU with the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Kenya, a move expected to scale up interventions in health, livelihoods, education, water and sanitation, and Child protection services in Turkana over up to 2032.
Deputy County Secretary Joseph Nyang’a penned the deal with officials of ADRA Kenya in Lodwar at a ceremony presided over by the County Attorney Ruth Emanikor.
Under the framework, county and ADRA Kenya will partner in developing and implementing multi sector programs aligned with the county’s development priorities with up to 15 million US Dollars (approximately ksh 2 billion) mobilized from Global Affairs Canada and disbursed through ADRA Canada.
Specifically, the pact allows the county and ADRA Kenya to expand the ongoing humanitarian and development interventions to directly benefit up to 90,000 people with services in several sub counties.
While acknowledging that the pact was clear on health systems Strengthening through the Ongoing TOGETHER program (2021-2027) and Social Protection (2025-2032), County Attorney added that the pact was forward looking and prioritized locally led solutions.
The MoU also includes a reproductive health program to be co-implemented with Moi University and, the National AIDS and STI control program (NASCOP) targeting the adolescent and caregivers to address early marriages and generate research evidence to inform policy interventions.
Beyond the long term development, ADRA Kenya has also mobilized up to 1.5 million US Dollars for humanitarian and early recovery interventions, helping vulnerable households respond to emergencies.
