DG Erus urges facility in charges to maximize output as county seeks to boost SHA registration

Deputy Governor has called on all facility in charges to play a more proactive role in assisting Turkana meet it’s health targets by ensuring their institutions operate at full capacity.

In his address during the opening ceremony of Turkana West data review meeting, DG Erus said that improved service delivery could only be realized only if health care facility heads optimized use of the resources made available to them to offer services.

“The Governor and I have been very deliberate in ensuring that the health sector works, that is why we have invested heavily in health infrastructure and manpower. It is now your turn to ensure that those facilities offer quality service,” DG Erus said.

Adding that he county’s past was characterized by sorry state of healthcare provision leading to fatalities resulting from preventable diseases, DG Erus challenges the staff to help reverse the trend by utilizing the resources provided by the County.

CECM for Health and Sanitation Dr. Joseph Epem specifically pointed out to social health registration indicator, saying that it was the weakest in the republic.

“This is an indicator that calls for collaborative efforts of all health sector players at the grassroot level under the guidance of the facility in charge, there will be no excuse why huge population refuse to register if the in charges take control,’ Dr. Epem said.

Pointing out that Turkana was loosing million of shillings from the exchequer due to low uptake of SHA, CECM directed the facility in charges to step up the game and reach out to the unregistered populations.

At the end of the forum, facility in charges and stakeholders are expected to identify areas requiring further adjustments as they continue to discharge their mandate.
