Turkana North, Kibish Residents Demand Completion of Stalled Projects in CFSP Talks

Kibish– February 26, 2026 (Public Communication and Media Relations)

Residents of Turkana North and Kibish have called for urgent completion of stalled projects as the County Fiscal Strategy Paper (CFSP) public participation forums gather pace.

Speaking at the forum, Director of Monitoring and Evaluation John Ekaru reaffirmed that development priorities are set by the public. He added that the County Government has increased allocation to Monitoring and Evaluation to strengthen oversight and ensure projects are properly supervised to completion.

Participants from the two sub-counties raised concerns that several stalled projects had not been clearly captured in the CFSP, yet their completion would significantly boost development across the vast region.

Alamsiki Ikaal, a resident of Nariokotome, urged the county to prioritize finishing ongoing projects before launching new ones. He cited Kapedor and Elelea Dispensaries, as well as Nakwakipi ECDE in Riokomor, as key facilities that remain incomplete.

“Before launching new projects, we want to see unfinished projects done first,” he said.

Joseph Lomilio from Meyan village unit also called for increased funding for ECDE centres, particularly for school feeding programmes, to bridge the gap left by partners supporting the County’s efforts.

He noted that enhanced feeding programmes would help boost enrolment.

Lomilio further emphasized the need to involve local administrators in project monitoring to prevent payments for incomplete works.

The forum brought together residents from diverse backgrounds, including youth, special interest groups, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), the elderly, professionals, members of the business community, minority groups, and civil society organizations across Turkana North and Kibish Sub-Counties.
