The Chief Officer for Medical Services in a courtesy call with the Full Gospel Churches of Kenya (FGCK) – Turkana and Brighthope International called for collaboration to improve health outcomes in Natoot Farm.
The delegation was led by Bishop Francis Namuya and Victor Juma, Community Project Coordinator at Brighthope International.
The discussions focused on enhancing access to healthcare for the growing population at Natoot Farm, where FGCK, in partnership with Brighthope International, has been implementing integrated interventions in health and livelihoods.
Speaking during the engagement, Juma emphasized the need for strengthened collaboration to support the expanding community.
“We have come here today because, as a church working at Natoot Farm, we have seen a growing population in need of medical service provision. FGCK focuses on improving livelihoods and food security, advocating for formal education, and improving health outcomes for residents,” he noted.
He added that the two parties are currently conducting monthly mobile clinic outreaches at Lolupe Health Facility to serve the community. The partners also expressed the need for the establishment of a Level 3 health facility at Natoot, noting that the community has already set aside land for the project, and is seeking county government support to actualize it.
Dr. Lokoel acknowledged persistent challenges in accessing healthcare services across Turkana, particularly in far-flung and hard-to-reach areas. He noted that many residents still travel long distances to access medical care, underscoring the importance of partnerships with faith-based organizations and other stakeholders.
The Chief Officer reaffirmed the County Government’s commitment to collaborate with partners to improve service delivery. He assured that once established, the proposed facility would be supported through staffing and provision of medical supplies to ensure it operates at the required standards.
He further emphasized that strengthening collaboration with faith-based organizations remains critical in bridging healthcare access gaps across the county.
Present were Dr. Kidalio Ekiru, Director of Medical Services, Dr. David Moru and Paul Kare, Director and Deputy Director for Health Products and Technologies.
