Kakuma Municipality Hosts Stakeholder Forum to Strengthen Community Development and Integration

Kakuma Municipality, in partnership with the Local Leadership East African Return and Reintegration Network (LLEARN), convened a Participatory Forum II, bringing together key stakeholders to deliberate on critical development priorities within the municipality.

The forum assembled representatives from government, development partners, and community leadership to engage in structured group discussion across thematic areas, prioritizing health and education.

The initiative aims to enhance service delivery and improve the living standards of both refugee and host communities within Kakuma Municipality.

Speaking while representing the Chief Officer for Urban Areas Management, the Director of Urban Areas Management, Ngala Ekuleu, reaffirmed the County Government’s commitment to equitable access to services for all residents.

He emphasized the county’s priority to ensure both host and refugee communities benefit fairly from government programs and interventions.

He also commended stakeholders for their continued collaboration and dedication to advancing inclusive development.

Representing partners, David Mtana, Deputy Manager at the Department of Refugee Services (DRS), highlighted the importance of strengthened cooperation between refugee and host communities.

He noted that coordinated effort among stakeholders is key to addressing shared challenges and unlocking opportunities for sustainable development. He further assured the County Government of the partners’ commitment to working closely with the municipality to achieve common goals.

The forum marks a significant step toward fostering inclusive dialogue, strengthening partnerships, and promoting sustainable development within Kakuma Municipality.
