Leadership Transition at Drought Resilience Programme

Lodwar, April 27, 2026 (Public Communication and Media Relations) — CPA Michael Ekwanga has taken over as County Project Coordinator for the Drought Resilience Programme in Northern Kenya (DRPNK), succeeding Eng. Charles Ekeno, who has moved to head the Horn of Africa Groundwater Resilience Project.

The handover ceremony was presided over by County Chief Officer for Agriculture and Land Reclamation, David Maraka, who welcomed the incoming coordinator and commended the outgoing office holder for his dedicated service.

Maraka described the transition as part of routine government processes aimed at enhancing efficiency and service delivery, and called for teamwork and collaboration to ensure continuity in programme implementation.

In his remarks, Ekwanga pledged to build on existing structures and strengthen delivery of programme objectives in line with the county’s development priorities, with a focus on improving community resilience.

Ekeno expressed confidence in the programme team and assured his continued support during the transition, noting that a strong foundation had been established for sustained progress.Ekwanga previously served as Assistant Director for Monitoring and Evaluation.

An induction process is scheduled to begin this week. Also present at the ceremony was Deputy Director of Administrative Services, Dorcas Ejore.
