Residents of Kibish Sub-County are set to benefit from improved transport after the County Government began opening up of the 20-km Kalokok-Lororonyit Road.

The project, funded through the Ward Development Fund at the cost of about ksh 3.4 million, was officially handed over to the contractor at Koyasa Junction in Kibish Ward.

Project Supervisor John Mark Eregae said the works scope entails; bush clearing and grading of the road for the entire 20-km stretch.

“In addition to handing over the project to the contractor, we have used this opportunity to share the technical specifications and safety protocols that the contractor must adhere to,” Eregae said.

Residents who attended the handover said they expect the improved road to ease transport for vehicles and livestock during movement between Loronyonyit, Lokitela, Kalokok and Koyasa areas.

The road also serves as an alternative shorter route to Kibish Centre and functions as a strategic security access road, facilitating rapid response by security agencies during raids and emergency operations.

County and national government leaders from the area also attended the event.
