Turkana Agripreneurs to Join President’s Launch of Agripreneur Model Program

At least 82 agripreneurs, from Turkana are set to participate in the President’s launch of the Agripreneur model program.

They will join 1,608 other Agripenuers from across the Country for the event, which is scheduled to take place during the Annual Madaraka Day celebration in Wajir County.

This year’s theme is “Education, Skills and the Future.”

The Agripreneur model program, supported by the Food Systems Resilience Project (FSRP), aims to engage youth in the food security sector and is a crucial step toward enhancing agricultural productivity in Kenya.

Addressing the agripreneurs County Project Coordinator Victor Lochee emphasized their vital role in achieving the program’s objectives.

He stated that the initiative seeks to improve last-mile extension service delivery, which is essential for increasing access to agricultural inputs, market linkages, modern technologies, and financial services for local farmers.

“By ensuring there is increased access to these resources, we will strengthen food systems and build resilience,” Lochee remarked.

He also urged participants to maintain decorum and discipline throughout the event.

Peter Lolem, the Governor’s advisor for resource mobilization and partnerships, reassured the team that the Governor is fully aware of the program and has pledged his support.

The FSRP team accompanying the agripreneurs includes Simon Atot, (Agribusiness Development Officer) Josephine Emase(Community Institutions Lead) Christine Ebei( Digital Agriculture Lead), Esther Ngikode(Administrator) among others.
