Turkwel – May 29, 2026 (Public Communication and Media Relations)
Efforts to improve road connectivity in Turkwel Ward received a major boost after the County Department of Roads officially handed over the Nataparkakono–Kaloboi Road project site to the contractor for the commencement of works.
The 35-kilometre road project, valued at KSh 4.8 million, is expected to enhance transportation and improve access to the Lomil area, easing the movement of people, goods, and services.
The scope of works includes light site clearance and grading along the road corridor to improve its condition and accessibility, particularly for local communities that rely on the route for economic and social activities.
During the site handover and inspection exercise, Roads Engineer David Ekuwa directed the contractor to undertake extensive public awareness campaigns to keep residents informed about the road works and their expected benefits.
He further emphasised the need to ensure the inclusion of special interest groups during project implementation and urged the contractor to uphold quality standards throughout the project to guarantee value for money, accountability, and the delivery of durable road infrastructure.
The project forms part of the County Government’s ongoing investment in road maintenance and improvement programmes aimed at strengthening connectivity and supporting socio-economic development across remote areas of the county.
