Kanamkemer – May 30, 2026 (Public Communication and Media Relations)
The County Government has officially handed over the Kanam Centre–Kanamkemer Primary– New Apostolic Planetaire Road routine maintenance project to the contractor, paving the way for the commencement of improvement works aimed at enhancing accessibility and transport services in the area.
The project, valued at KSh 4,297,503 and funded through the Road Maintenance Levy Fund (RMLF), will involve routine maintenance works designed to improve the condition of the road and facilitate safer and more efficient movement for residents, learners, traders, and other road users.
During the site handover exercise, the contractor was formally granted access to the project site and directed to immediately mobilise the necessary personnel, equipment, and construction materials to ensure the timely execution and completion of the works within the stipulated contract period.
Speaking during the exercise, Janet Bosibori, County Senior Surveyor and Engineer in Charge of the project, emphasised the need for strict adherence to the approved drawings, specifications, bills of quantities, and contractual requirements throughout the implementation period.
She instructed the contractor to prioritise proper setting out of works before commencement, maintain traffic flow and the safety of road users during construction, and protect the environment and adjacent properties from any negative impacts arising from the works.
Bosibori further stressed the importance of delivering quality workmanship, particularly during grading and gravelling operations, while ensuring full compliance with all contractual obligations and Ministry of Roads standards.
The project is expected to improve connectivity within the area, enhance access to social amenities, and support economic activities by providing a more reliable road network for the local community.
