Residents of Lorengesinyen and Lochor-Ekuyen are set to benefit from improved transportation and connectivity following the successful completion of the Lorugum–Lorengesinyen–Lochor Ekuyen Road.
The 37-kilometre road, maintained through funding from the Road Maintenance Levy Fund (RMLF), has undergone essential maintenance works including grading and bush clearing aimed at improving accessibility, safety, and mobility for road users.
During a final inspection of the project, Senior Road Inspector David Ekuwam confirmed that the works had been completed and officially handed over by the contractor. He noted that the road is now ready for public use.
Ekuwam expressed satisfaction with the overall standard of the completed works and acknowledged all stakeholders for contributing to the success.
Speaking during the inspection, Deputy Director for Roads, Julia Agis lauded the project, highlighting its significance in enhancing connectivity across the area.
She noted that the road serves as a vital transport link connecting Lorugum to Lorengesinyen and onward to Lochor Ekuyen, improving movement for residents, traders, and service providers.
She further observed that the improved road network is expected to boost local economic activities by easing transportation and supporting livelihoods, particularly, charcoal and firewood trade.
The inspection team included Benson Nangolol from Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Department, Peter Ekoyan, Assistant Engineer, and Margaret Ayangan, Assistant Procurement Accountant.
