Lodwar – June 2, 2026 (Public Communication and Media Relations)

The County Government has commenced routine maintenance works on the Legio Maria–New County Assembly road under Tender No. TCG/MRT/2101265/2025-2026, in a move aimed at improving road safety, accessibility, and mobility for all road users.

The project involves a series of maintenance interventions designed to restore the road’s condition and enhance its usability. Key activities include the erection of a project signboard, bush clearing along the road reserve, and grading of the entire 8.2-kilometre stretch.

Speaking during the project handover, Senior Surveyor Janet Bosibiri emphasised the importance of the road, noting that it serves as a critical link for communities accessing the County Assembly and neighboring areas.

She noted that the interventions have been tailored to address common causes affecting roads in the area, including drainage, vegetation encroachment, and surface wear issues.

The contractor has been directed to execute the works within the stipulated contract period while adhering to the quality and safety standards set by the Department of Roads.

The county engineers will oversee implementation and monitor progress to ensure compliance with project specifications and value for public investment.

Residents living along the road corridor have been urged to cooperate with the contractor and exercise caution in areas where maintenance activities are underway.
