The County Department of Roads has intensified efforts to improve road infrastructure in Aroo Sub County through ongoing maintenance works and the completion of key road projects aimed at enhancing accessibility, security, and economic activities.
Routine maintenance is currently underway on the 13-kilometre Lopur Angeles–Kalemungorok Junction Road. The works include bush clearing to improve visibility and safety, as well as grading to restore the road surface and enhance mobility for residents and road users.
The project is also creating employment opportunities for local community members engaged in site clearance activities.
Meanwhile, the department conducted a joint final inspection of the 70-kilometre Lorokon–Nakwamoru–Kapelibok–Lochorelim Road project. The inspection team, comprising county engineers, contractors, security personnel, and community representatives, assessed the completed works, including road formation, grading, and drainage structures, to ensure compliance with project standards.
During the inspection, Deputy Director for Roads Julia commended the contractor for successfully completing the project despite operational challenges.
Roads Monitoring and Evaluation Officer Benson Ekidor noted that the works were executed in accordance with the Bill of Quantities and represented value for money, emphasizing the road’s importance in supporting emergency response, security operations, and local economic activities.
Residents welcomed the improved road network, citing enhanced access to essential services and improved security. They also appealed for additional drainage improvements and gravelling to ensure year-round accessibility during rainy seasons.
The road projects are expected to boost connectivity, ease transportation of people and goods, and contribute to the socio-economic development of Aroo Sub-County and neighbouring communities.
