The County Government has begun an emergency care and response partnership with Ambulex Solutions aimed at strengthening emergency medical care and response across the county.
The collaboration was announced during a courtesy call on the Chief Officer for Medical Services, Dr. Gilchrist Lokoel, by a delegation led by Ambulex’s Public Sector Partnerships and Scale Lead, Boniface Owuor.
“This initiative aims to integrate operational, budget-linked emergency medical services into the County Government’s public health system, rather than relying on standalone pilots,” he said.
In agreement, the Chief Officer added that this is calculated to enhance effective, time bound and enhances pre hospital and hospital referral services.
“By enhancing the local healthcare infrastructure, the partnership seeks to ensure that reliable medical emergency care and technology are readily available to all residents, particularly those in remote and underserved areas,” added Dr. Lokoel.
The rollout is scheduled for July 2026, when a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is expected to be finalised. This will be followed by Basic and Advanced Life Support training for the paramedics and emergency medical services (EMS) team towards improved handling and response during emergencies.
Both teams agreed that this proactive approach will complement existing services through utilisation of a tech-enabled dispatch model to streamline communication and reach out-of-reach communities with timely life-saving support.
Turkana becomes the eighth county to benefit from Ambulex’s ongoing expansion programme aimed at strengthening emergency medical services across the country.
Present were the County Government’s EMS team and other representatives.
