Kambi Mpya–Canaan road rehabilitation project inspected ahead of completion

An inspection team visited the ongoing rehabilitation of the Kambi Mpya–Canaan Road (Sapcone Section), a key infrastructure project, funded through the Road Maintenance Fuel Levy Fund (RMLF) in partnership with the County Government.

The project which commenced on May 2026, is scheduled for completion by September 2026.The rehabilitation works are aimed at improving accessibility, enhancing mobility, and addressing the effects of erosion and poor road conditions that have affected residents for years.

Current works include earthworks, murram dumping, side clearance, culvert installation, drainage improvement, grading, and road levelling. Concrete works, including the construction of a road slab and additional drainage structures, will be undertaken during Phase II.

Speaking during the inspection, Senior Engineer Titus Tum said the road had experienced severe erosion during rainy seasons, making access to essential services difficult.

He noted that the project was initiated in response to community concerns and reaffirmed the County Government’s commitment to improving road infrastructure.

Road Surveyor Janet Bosibori praised the contractor for maintaining quality standards and ensuring steady progress despite occasional challenges.

Kanam Village Administrator Peter Eregae confirmed that the project remains on schedule and urged residents to disregard misinformation circulating on social media regarding its status. He emphasized that the road works are ongoing and have not yet been completed.

The inspection was attended by Senior Accountant Anisa Adan,Monitoring and Evaluation Officer Benson Ekidor, Procurement Officer Francis Eloto and Laboratory Technicians Celestone Jerono and Zaika Bilali.
