HEALTH DEPARTMENT MARKS CATHOLIC’S JUBILEE OF THE SICK AND HEALTHCARE WORKERS

The County Department of Health and Sanitation has marked the Catholic’s Jubilee of the Sick and Health Care Workers 2025 with a special mass to honour and pray for the sick and those dedicated to their care.

The Year of Jubilee 2025, with the theme, “Pilgrims of Hope”, emphasised on the journey of faith, showing signs of hope to the sick and expressing gratitude to health care workers who care for the vulnerable.

Addressing the congregation, County Chief Officer for Medical Services, Dr Ezekiel Etelej urged the health professionals to ensure that patients are handled with respect and their information kept confidential.

“Let us continue to uphold the privacy and confidentiality of patients’ information, as service to humanity is service to God,” he stated.

Dr Etelej reiterated the county’s commitment to offering quality healthcare services to all residents. He also urged the Diocese of Lodwar to continue its partnership with the county government in the health sector.

The Diocese of Lodwar Bishop John Mbinda emphasized the importance of collaboration with the county and appreciated the efforts of healthcare workers in caring for and providing hope to the sick.

Acting Director for Nursing Services, Alice Akalapatan explained the importance of celebrating the year of Jubilee, reminding healthcare workers to offer support and relief to those who are sick.

The ceremony brought together county health workers, Diocese of Lodwar, Kenya Medical Training College and community members.

The mass ended with a message of hope and a call for continued collaboration between healthcare workers, religious groups and the community in promoting health and well-being across Turkana County.
