Lodwar, 28th July 2025 (Public Communications and Media Relations) – The County Government of Turkana has officially received a newly completed four-storey office complex from Landmark Contractors.
The modern building, which will house the Office of the Governor and other key departments, is expected to ease congestion and improve coordination among county offices, ultimately enhancing service delivery to residents.
The facility was handed over to officials from the Department of Finance and Economic Planning during a brief ceremony held at the site.
Speaking at the event, County Secretary Dr Richard Ekai described the completion as a milestone in the county’s infrastructure development.
“This building is more than concrete and steel — it is a symbol of progress, efficiency, and accountability,” he said.
County Executive for Finance and Economic Planning, Roseline Aite, noted that the building would greatly improve operational efficiency by enabling departments to work more closely under one roof.
CECM for Roads and Public Works, Benson Lokwang, praised the collaboration between departments and the contractor.
“This project reflects our commitment to quality infrastructure that supports effective governance and public service,” he said.
The project had experienced delays due to budgetary constraints, procurement issues, and changes in the scope of work. During past oversight visits, the Senate had raised concerns about the prolonged construction period and the underutilisation of county infrastructure.
It recommended the speedy completion and full occupation of the facility by county departments.
Other senior officials present included Deputy County Secretary Joseph Nyang’a, Chief Officer in the Office of the Governor Moses Korea, Director of Procurement Samson Nakito, and Director of Public Works Ignatius Kopeto.
