The Department of Finance and Economic Planning convened a public participation forum in Turkana Central Sub-County to gather community input for the Annual Development Plan (ADP) for the 2026/2027 financial year.
Across all five wards of Turkana Central, residents highlighted the construction and upgrading of health facilities as their top priority. Other proposals included the installation of boreholes and the equipping of Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centres.
Director of Public Participation, Simon Lokutan, highlighted the importance of inclusive planning.
“Residents’ focus on health, water, and education will deliver projects that truly transform lives,” he said.
He added that the County Government would continue to engage stakeholders to refine the ADP, ensuring it aligns with Governor’s Nine-Point Agenda.
Turkana Central Sub-County Administrator, Esther Kiyonga, urged residents to remain actively involved in developmental processes as their voices shape the county.
“I’m glad that I have participated in this forum because it will help improve our health facilities and schools,” said Peninah Peikai, a resident of Kerio Delta Ward.
The forum brought together representatives of youth, women, civil society organisations, and NGOs.
The community’s proposals will be compiled and submitted to the County Assembly by September 1 for consideration and approval.
