Lodwar – December 3, 2025 (Public Communication and Media Relations)
The County Government has launched a new round of environmental and social safeguards screening for all projects implemented under the 2024–2025 Financing Locally Led Climate Change Action (FLLoCA) programme.
The exercise aims to ensure that ongoing and completed interventions comply with environmental safety standards and adhere to social safeguard policies as outlined in the national FLLoCA framework.
Local communities are actively engaged in providing critical on-site information, which will inform the development of comprehensive screening reports.
So far, inspections have been conducted at three projects including Poya Borehole in Loima Ward, Kabulokor Irrigation Scheme in Lobei-Kotaruk Ward, and Nalamacha River Protection Works in Nanam Ward.
Additional FLLoCA-funded projects across the county are scheduled for screening in the coming days.
Present were the multi-agency screening team lead, Edung Emase Director, Climate Change, his assistant Jairus Napulo, Kevin Ojiem, Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) focal person, Social Services expert Shadrack Okumu, NEMA representative Francis Emanikor, DOSH Officer Kennedy Wekesa, Land Reclamation officer John Etabo, and John Elimlim, Water Department.
