Lodwar – December 5, 2025 (Public Communication and Public Relations)
Residents in selected parts of Turkana are set to benefit from improved access to clean and affordable energy following a new partnership between the County Government, the Diocese of Lodwar, and Solar Pledge East Africa.
The collaboration was confirmed by County Director of Energy, Jackson Lojore, after an inception meeting bringing together representatives of the three institutions.
Director Lojore said the initiative aligns with the county’s ongoing efforts to scale up the use of solar photovoltaic (PV) technologies in high-potential areas across Turkana North, Turkana Central, Turkana South, Loima and Turkana West.
He urged the partners to ensure that social institutions are included in the rollout plan, noting that reliable solar energy would greatly support service delivery in both existing and upcoming health and educational facilities.
“We are looking forward to a situation where targeted residents can access reliable, clean and affordable energy. We are happy that the Diocese of Lodwar is helping us attain that goal in collaboration with Solar Pledge East Africa,” Lojore said.
The partners agreed to hold follow-up meetings to refine the implementation framework and develop a comprehensive rollout schedule ahead of signing the final agreement.
Present were Deputy Director of Energy Geoffrey Eregae, Diocese of Lodwar management team members Dr Kamar Imana, Edmond Buigut and Fr. Ignatius Mwihamo, and representative from TUPADO, Project Officer, Echom Simon.
