Deputy Governor Dr. John Erus has welcomed the upcoming release of survey findings on regenerative agriculture and anticipatory action in peace planning along the Kenya-Uganda border.
The findings, part of the Karamoja Strong project led by the Danish Refugee Council (DRC), will be unveiled on Tuesday, 3rd February 2026, at Moroto in Uganda.
While confirming that the County Government will be part of the process, DG Erus noted that the baseline findings will inform evidence-based interventions for sustainable peace and climate Resilience building on past successes in Turkana.
The DG lauded DRC for adopting the approach, which focuses on streamlining resilience into peace building and conflict management by addressing vulnerabilities to resource-based conflict, gender-based violence, and economic deprivation, common challenges facing pastoralist border communities in the region.
Alfred Loyok- Karamoja Strong Team Leader, DRC alongside David Oyori- Karamoja Strong Project Manager, DRC, confirmed that the event will gather stakeholders from Turkana, West Pokot and Karamoja communities to discuss the baseline findings, co-create ideas and solutions in shaping anticipated achievements and future collaborations.
