Loyoro/Kalokol – March 3, 2026 (Public Communication and Media Relations)

The residents in Kalokol are set to benefit from improved water access following a site visit and technical briefing for contractors interested in implementing the proposed 13-kilometre water pipeline from Loyoro village to Kalokol town.

The project, spearheaded by the County Government, is expected to significantly improve water availability for thousands of Kalokol residents who have long faced persistent shortages.

Vinson Ekai, Sub-county Water Officer, noted that community engagement will be a key pillar of the project to ensure ownership, sustainability, and minimal disruption during construction.

Beyond the pipeline, the project scope includes installation of water kiosks to enhance equitable access, as well as construction of a steel storage tank in Kalokol town to stabilise supply and improve distribution efficiency.

Addressing contractors, Eng. Wanjala Reinhard, County Engineer from Water Services, urged those who will be awarded the tender to work closely with government engineers and community members to deliver quality, long-lasting infrastructure.

He stressed that adherence to engineering standards and social responsibility will be closely monitored throughout implementation.

Echoing the call for excellence, Ekai reminded contractors that quality workmanship will not be compromised, noting that the county is committed to ensuring value for money and reliable water services for residents.

Eng. Simon Etelon, County Water Engineer reinforced the County Government’s technical oversight and commitment to professional execution.
