County Government receives water operational and maintenance equipment from JICA

The County Government has received water operational and maintenance equipment from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to enhance efficiency, reduce downtime, and strengthen service reliability for residents across the county.

The equipment are meant to support Turkana Urban Water and Sanitation Company (TUWASCO), Turkana Rural Water and Sanitation Company TURWASCO), and Kakuma-Kalobeyei Water and Sanitation Company (KALOWASCO.

The items are intended to strengthen day-to-day operations and long-term maintenance of water infrastructure.

The handover followed the extensive capacity building of staff on proper use, safety, and maintenance of the supplied equipment. This approach ensures the tools are effectively utilized to improve service delivery.

The event was witnessed by Dr. Atsushi Hanatani, Anexus Advisor at JICA who emphasized JICA’s commitment to sustainable water services through skills development and institutional support.

Speaking during the briefing, Samuel Ekaran, TURWASCO’s Managing Director said the equipment will significantly enhance operational efficiency.

“These tools will help us respond faster to breakdowns and improve the reliability of water supply to our communities,” he noted.

Aron Kokiro, Managing Directorat TUWASCO welcomed the support, saying the equipment and prior training will reduce operational challenges to better serve residents and safeguard the systems.
