Puch Community Health Unit shines as the best nationally

Lodwar – March 30, 2026 (Public Communications and Media Relations)

Turkana County celebrates the recognition of Puch Community Health Unit from Lokiriama Sub-County, as the best-performing in the country this past week.

The announcement was made during the weekly national Community Health Promoters (CHP) Assembly convened by Mary Muthoni Muriuki, the Principal Secretary, State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards.

The recognition also shines a spotlight on our local champions, Midred Imoni, as an outstanding Community Health Assistant (CHA), and acknowledges Mark Esekon’s leadership prowess as the Sub-County Focal Person.

The forum brings together CHPs and CHAs from across the country to engage, learn, and share experiences, particularly on the use of digital systems for service delivery, reporting, and monitoring.

Through such platforms, frontline health workers are empowered to drive impact where it matters most, their communities.

This national accolade highlights the county’s growing leadership in strengthening primary healthcare at the community level.

At the heart of this success are our CHPs who remain a dedicated frontline healthworkforce that is resilient and committed to improving lives every day.
