County HQ, April 10, 2026 (Public Communication and Media Relations)
County Chief Officer for the Office of the Deputy Governor, Joseph Epuu Elim, has pledged to strengthen teamwork and motivate staff to enhance service delivery.
Chief Officer Epuu said this during a handover ceremony at the County Headquarters where he urged staff to work collaboratively and remain committed to achieving the office’s shared goals.
“As your CCO, I value working with a diverse and motivated team striving toward a common goal. Together, we will move in one direction,” Epuu said.
He also assured staff of fair and diligent leadership, promising to serve all officers without discrimination.
Chief Epuu commended his predecessor, Evans Lomodei, describing him as a longtime colleague and friend. He noted that his previous engagement with the Deputy Governor through the Catholic Diocese of Lodwar’s Peace and Justice Commission has created a familiar and conducive working environment.
Outgoing Chief Officer Evans Lomodei, who now heads the County Department of Gender and Youth Affairs, urged the incoming CCO to support and resource the Directorate of Public Communication and Media Relations to enable it effectively deliver on its mandate.
He thanked staff for their support during his tenure and encouraged them to extend the same cooperation to his successor. Lomodei also assured Epuu of his availability for consultations during the transition period.
Deputy County Secretary Dr. Albert Gamoe, who presided over the handover, commended the Chief Officers for their continued commitment to serving the people of Turkana.
Dr. Gamoe emphasized that the Deputy Governor’s office, as part of the Executive Governance structure, plays a critical role in projecting the county’s image and elevating its profile to support effective service delivery and strategic partnerships.
He also reiterated the importance of strengthening the Directorate of Public Communication and Media Relations to enhance the government’s public image.
The redeployment follows Executive Order No. 02/2026, dated March 26, 2026, which reassigned the two Chief Officers to the Deputy Governor’s Office and the Department of Gender and Youth Affairs.
Those present at the ceremony included Jerry Eipa (PA to the Deputy Governor), Edwin Nyongesa (Senior Accountant), Gilchrist Edoket (Supply Chain Management Officer), Gladys Chepkemboi (Secretary to the Deputy Governor) and Peter Ekai (ICT Officer).
