Relief for residents of Liwan after the County Government has begun water feasibility, Environmental Impact Assessment and topographical surveys for the new supply system.
This development marks a major breakthrough in effort to address chronic water shortage in the area.
Liwan Community, for decades, has endured acute water scarcity, often walking long distances and relying on unsafe water sources that expose families to diseases.
These challenges have severely affected livelihoods, health, and overall well-being of the people.
Turkana County, in addressing this, has intensified its commitment to provide safe and reliable water by commencing key preparatory works for the Liwan Water Supply Project.
The ongoing activities include a feasibility survey, an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (EASIA), and a detailed topographic survey to support the design of a sustainable hydraulic water system.
The technical team includes Eng Reinard Wanjala, Turkana North Deputy Sub-county Water Officer, Peter Kospir, who will work together with the contractor to ensure the surveys meet required technical, environmental, and social standards.
County officials say the surveys demonstrate deliberate and sustained investment by the county government to end long-standing water challenge in Liwan.
Once completed, the findings will guide the development of a safe, resilient, and long-term water supply system for the community.
