Governor Lomorukai Vows Steadfast Service Delivery

Loitanit, Kaaleng-Kaikor Ward, Turkana, April 25, 2026 (Governor’s Press Service)

Governor Dr. Jeremiah Lomorukai has dismissed critics seeking to derail the county’s development agenda and reaffirmed that his administration remains focused on service delivery. He said this while addressing residents at Loitanit village in Kaaleng-Kaikor Ward, Turkana North Constituency.

“The county under my leadership has been intentional on cross-border peace, pastoralism support, water provision and livelihood improvement, not politics,” Dr. Lomorukai said.

He listed projects undertaken by the county, saying his goal is to create an enabling environment for peaceful co-existence, trade and sustainable development in border areas. Kaaleng-Kaikor, he said, had benefited immensely from the plan.“This is one area where access was limited due to poor road networks. The potential of this place could not be harnessed. We invested in the Napak Road and other feeder roads to improve access.

We have also put up projects in health, water, markets and ECDE,” he said. The Governor said the county would work closely with the Ateker Leaders Council to tap the wisdom of community elders and cultural practices for peacebuilding.

On politics, Dr. Lomorukai defended his association with Special Peace Envoy in the Ateker region John Munyes, Woman Representative Cecilia Ng’itit and other leaders, saying their combined experience will help push for more projects from the National Government.

Special Peace Envoy for Ateker, John Munyes lauded the operationalization of the Kenyan chapter of the Ateker Leaders Council.

“This move will directly benefit border areas by creating working structures to strengthen peacebuilding processes,” he said.

County Woman Representative Cecilia Ngitit Asinyen said groups in the area had also benefited from the National Government Affirmative Action Fund disbursed through her office.

“Despite the limited allocation, my office has ensured that every ward in the county gets funding for priority projects. This year, several groups benefited too,” she said.

Present were a host of MCAs including Abdifatah Kapua (Kaaleng-Kaikor), Patrick Napion (Kaeris), Vincent Ekipor (Lokichoggio), Simon Naoyakope (Kibish), Patrick Esekon (nominated) and Esther Apetet (nominated).
