A team of Kenya School of Government (KSG) paid a courtesy call to the County Government marking the beginning of a two-day engagement aimed at strengthening institutional capacity and enhancing staff training across the County.
The visit seeks to deepen collaboration between the County and KSG through tailored training programmes, consultancy and research services, while also expanding access to professional development opportunities for county staff.
Speaking during the courtesy call, Deputy County Secretary Dr. Albert Gamoe commended the KSG delegation for the initiative, noting that continuous training remains a priority for the County, particularly for staff in lower cadres who form a large portion of the workforce.
“We welcome this engagement as it will enable our staff to become aware of available courses and the need to acquire soft skills for different cadres,” he said.
The KSG team leader, Deputy Director Dr. John Napoo, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to supporting county government through demand-driven training programmes aligned to public service needs.
He noted that the training targets different cadres, beginning with directors and heads of departments, followed by other county staff from all departments with the aim of enhancing professionalism and integrity in service delivery.
Following the courtesy call, Dr. Gamoe approved the establishment of a KSG Information Desk at the Finance and Economic Planning Boardroom. The desk is intended to facilitate staff consultations, inquiries on the courses offered and collection of feedback on priority capacity-building needs.
County staff also engaged the KSG team through open desk consultations, where they received guidance on available courses and training opportunities.
The Information Desk will remain open until tomorrow, providing a platform for wider staff engagement and awareness creation.
Present during the engagement were Chief Officers Janerose Tioko (Partnerships), Dr. Gilchrist Lokoel (Health), Marian Lotieng (Public Service, Administration and Disaster). Peter Kebo (Deputy Director HRM), Peterson Erus (Assistant Director, Administration) and Rachael Aroo (Deputy Director Administration Finance).
The KSG delegation also included Corporate Communications and Marketing Officers Salome Wambui and Sharon Ngina.
