Kakuma – May 29, 2026 (Public Communication and Media Relations)
The County Government has officially handed over the routine maintenance works for the TRP–Nadapal–Lwanga Chapel Junction Road in Kakuma Ward, marking a significant step towards improving accessibility and mobility for residents and businesses.
The project, being implemented under Contract No. TCG/MRT/2100991/2025–2026, will involve grading and gravelling of a two-kilometre stretch of road, as well as bush clearing to improve visibility and road safety.
A joint inspection and handover exercise was conducted by a team comprising Resident Engineer Titus Tum, Sub-County Roads Engineer for Turkana West Jacob Kataboi, Roads Inspector Zaika Bilali, Village Administrator Veronica Tioko, Volunteer Engineer Dennis Kosiyae, and the contractor.
The road serves as a vital urban link within Kakuma Town, providing access to residential areas, businesses, and essential services.
Its maintenance is expected to enhance connectivity and facilitate smoother movement throughout the year, particularly by addressing water accumulation along the middle section of the road, which often renders the route impassable during rainy periods.
The inspection team recommended the immediate implementation of routine maintenance works, including grading, gravelling, and bush clearing, to improve drainage, restore road passability, and ensure safe and reliable transportation in all weather conditions.
Once completed, the maintenance works are expected to ease transport challenges, improve access to key social and economic facilities, and contribute to the overall development of Kakuma Ward.
