Turkana Urban Water and Sanitation Company (TUWASCO) has received a new Managing Director, following the official handover of office to Kelly Komi Lemuya.

Speaking during the handover, Board Chairperson, Phillip Aemun described the appointment as a milestone for the utility company.

“We are excited that one of the Board’s key priorities has been achieved. The task ahead is now to strengthen the institution and secure the necessary licenses that will enable TUWASCO to operate at its full potential,” said Aemun.

The transition comes at a time when the company is seeking to improve service delivery and strengthen its operational capacity.

The outgoing Acting MD, Aaron Kokuro highlighted recent gains the company achieved, citing improved revenue collection of KSh 5 million surpassing its target from last month.

“Our focus going forward should be sustaining revenue growth while reducing non-revenue water, which remains one of the biggest challenges facing the company,” he said.

In his acceptance remarks, Lemuya pledged to build on the progress made and work closely with staff, the Board, and sector stakeholders to enhance water services within Lodwar Municipality.
