Kakuma 25th July 2026 (Public Communication and Media Relations)
Officers from the County Department of Roads conducted an inspection of the recently awarded road project connecting the 25 kms stretch between Kakuma and Letea in Turkana West.
Engineer Jacob Kataboi, who led the team, said the exercise was part of a broader program to ensure contractors deliver in accordance with set quality standards and timelines.
The contractor had been given 90 days between May to September 2026 to complete the contract.
Noting that the road will play a critical role in opening up the area and improving access to social institutions such as health facilities and schools, Eng. Kataboi called on the contractor to maintain the momentum and deliver quality work.
While engaging prospective beneficiaries of the project, Eng. Kataboi reiterated the county’s commitment to quality outcomes, particularly in the roads sector.
The inspection team assessed the quality of works relating to grading, bush clearing and drainage systems.
Chris Aposo (accounts examiner), Anisa Aden (Senior Accountant) and Walter Ekai formed part of the inspection team.
