Agriculture, Livestock Development and Fisheries County Executive David Erukudi today chaired a consultative meeting to gauge the stakeholders’ preparedness on the planned profiling and mapping of Agriculture Value chain Actors.
The programme, which was launched by President William Ruto last month, will be undertaken jointly by the County Government’s Department of Agriculture, Livestock Development and Fisheries together with the National Agriculture and Rural Inclusive Growth Project (NARIGP) and Emergency Locust Response Project (ELRP).
The project is to develop and strengthen data and digital systems that support agricultural resilience and climate adaptation planning.
The programme will be cascaded to the lower level where a panel will be constituted to oversee profiling and mapping of the value chain actors in respective wards and sub-counties.
In his remarks, CECM Erukudi called for commitment from all stakeholders involved to ensure effective implementation of the programme and ensure that the Government captures data that will inform planning on Food Security systems.
The Ward panel is expected to undertake sensitization of the members of the public about the exercise.
County Chief Officer for Agriculture and Land Reclamation Janerose Tioko and Ag. Directors; John Eipa (Livestock Production), Victor Lochee(Agriculture) and David Namwaya(Fisheries) were among Senior officials who attended the meeting held in Lodwar.
Others included NARIGP County Coordinator Joseph Ekalale, County Agribusiness Development Officer Simon Atot and Patrick Ijara, from the County Commissioner Office, were present, among others.
