A team of officials from the KFW Development Bank from Germany led by Country Project Coordinator, Daniel Odero paid a courtesy call to Deputy Governor Dr John Erus.

They discussed the Drought Resilience Programme in Northern Kenya (DRPNK) which is being implemented in Turkana and Marsabit counties.

The program focuses on building and rehabilitating infrastructure in these counties to improve drought resilience and climate change adaptation for pastoral and agro-pastoral communities. This will ultimately contribute to increased food security in the region.

Deputy Governor Dr Erus welcomed the support from the German government through KFW and highlighted the importance of collaboration and partnerships in implementing such projects.

He suggested engaging with the national treasury to facilitate smoother project implementation.

Dr Antony Apalia, County Executive for Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries, commended the program’s multi-sectoral approach and echoed concerns about funding delays. He proposed streamlining procedures to expedite the process.

The meeting was attended by KFW Development Bank officials, representatives from the National Treasury, Chief Officer for Agriculture Janerose Tioko, Dr. Albert Gamoe (Deputy County Secretary), and Charles Ekeno (Coordinator).
