COUNTY COMPLETES LOKIRIAMA – LOKIPOTO ROAD IN LOIMA

The County Government of Turkana has successfully completed routine maintenance on the 69-kilometre Lokiriama-Lokipoto road, connecting Kenya to Uganda in Loima.

The maintenance is part of the routine upgrading of roads and passageways by the County Government in the financial year 2023/2024, aimed at opening up rural areas for development.

The intervention includes bush clearing and repairing sections damaged by recent heavy rains.

This is expected to significantly benefit thousands of users who depend on the road for the cross-border movement of goods and services.

A team of road surveyors and engineers, together with the inspection team from the public works unit, inspected the works and commended the contractor for the good job done.

“The timely and effective maintenance will greatly enhance transport and trade between Kenya and Uganda,” Janet Bosibori stated.

The completion comes at a time when the county has also ensured roads in Kibish, Turkana Central, and Turkana North have benefitted from maintenance works to boost economic activity in the region.
