The County Health and Sanitation Department has received a donation of assorted furniture from the Gates Foundation, through Amref Health in Africa Kenya, to support in the provision of integrated outreaches.

The donation, consisting of 384 chairs and 128 tables, will be distributed to all sub-counties. In addition to the outreaches, the donation will also support container clinics and the Kimormor – the One Health approach.

“This donation will advance healthcare closer to the people by providing dignity to healthcare workers and patients at the outreaches,” said Dr Gilchrist Lokoel, Chief Officer for Medical Services.

Presenting the donation on behalf of Amref, the Chief of Party of USAID Imarisha Jamii, Dr Evans Osembo, highlighted that the county was ahead in innovative interventions to reach pastoralists, hence the support.

“Amref will work with the County Government to provide solid evidence to determine the impact of Kimormor and make it regular and effective,” he said.

Directors who spoke during the handover—Dr Bonventure Ameyo, Preventive and Promotive; Dr David Moru, Health Products and Technologies; James Lobokan, Policy, Monitoring and Evaluation; and Rebecca Alimlim, Administration—appreciated the support, noting that it would improve service quality and delivery to the mobile populations.

Representing the Sub-county Medical Officers of Health, Abdirahman Musa of Loima said the furniture would boost staff morale as they serve clients at the outreaches.
